Gunmen kill 11 people in Pakistan-Iran border

Quetta, Pakistan - Gunmen killed 11 unidentified people as they prepare to leave Pakistan illegally in Baluchistan province, officials said on Saturday.

The gunmen riding motorcycles attacked a convoy Friday night, in the district of Gwadar Pakistan near the Iranian border, about 1,600 kilometers (1,000 miles) southwest of Quetta.

Officials describe the people who died were illegal immigrants, believed to be the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan are trying to leave the country.

"Six armed men riding a motorcycle attacked a convoy of three illegal immigrants in the Dasht area of ​​district Gwadar Suntsar. We have received 11 bodies of immigrants," said the local government secretary Akbar Durrani.

"The immigrants were traveling with a convoy of three vehicles, but the number is not known for sure," he said.

A local government official said the victims could not be identified.

"We can not identify the victim. Physical appearance but showed that seven of them were citizens of Pakistan, while four others were citizens of Afghanistan," said the head of the Government of Gwadar Sohai Rehman.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

District Gwadar, Pakistan is a neighbor province of Saravan, Iran. The smugglers route traffic using illegal immigrants to Europe via Iran and Turkey.
