India Investigate Weapons Swedish presence in Myanmar

India is investigating how Swedish-made weapons bought Indian army could end up in Myanmar who are undergoing sanctions from the EU, such as the Press Trust of India reported on Saturday, citing an official source.


Sweden asks India on Thursday to clarify how these weapons could be in Myanmar after it was revealed India had bought the weapon, said Swedish Trade Minister Ewa Bjorling told Swedish parliament.


â???? Sweden has submitted the issue to us. We are currently looking into. But we did not post all the deadly weapons to Myanmar, â???? pejabar said an unnamed Indian PTI quoted as saying.


The pictures were taken in Myanmar and Swedai displayed in the media this week showed an anti-tank weapon types and ammunition M3 Carl Gustaf left Myanmar government troops. The serial number of the weapon is clearly visible in a photograph.


India's foreign ministry could not be reached for comment on the report.


According to a story published in the British Independent newspaper, the weapons used in the battle against the Myanmar army of ethnic Kachin rebels in the north of the country.
