Persecution Roll, 8 Bahrain police on trial

Manama - Eight policemen in Bahrain undergoing trial in a local court. The police were accused of torturing detainees involved massive protests against the Sunni-controlled government, last year.

"Five cases have been submitted to a special court after indict eight policemen, including a lieutenant," the prosecutor in this case was quoted as saying Bahrain News Agency (BNA) and reported by AFP on Tuesday (12/11/2012).

Indictments dijeratkan to the police tesebut diverse. "From torture to force detainees confessed, torture and cause permanent disability, as well as insults and physical attacks," added the statement.

Not further described the identities of the pollicis. It is not known for sure that threaten their sentence if convicted in this case.

But note in September, a police officer was sentenced to seven years in prison for the murder of a protester during violent protests that began in Bahrain in mid-early March 2011.

Investigation of the case began when local authorities implement the recommendations of the independent inquiry committee. The committee was asked directly by the king to investigate the alleged use of force by the police in securing the protests led Shia, then.
