Russia Will Not Allow Libyan Scenario Repeated in Syria

Moscow - The Russian government flatly refused to repeat the Libyan scenario in Syria amid protracted conflict. Russia will not let it happen again.

"We will not let the Libyan experience repeated in Syria. Unfortunately, our Western partners have left the Geneva agreements and is working on a pullback (Syrian President) Bashar al-Assad," said Minister of Foreign Affairs (Foreign Minister) Sergei Lavrov Russia.

It said Lavrov, the Russian government is not involved in any discussions about the future of Assad. "We're not holding any talks on the fate of Assad," Lavrov said as quoted by Reuters on Monday (12/10/2012).

Russian officials emphasized that the current priority is to stop the violence in Syria, not to discuss the fate of Assad.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 kitschy. According to human rights groups, tens of thousands of people, mostly civilians, have been killed during this crisis. The Syrian government argued that the chaos was masterminded from abroad.
