British Foreign Secretary Urges Commencement Back Middle East Peace Process
Middle East peace process should be related developments revived Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the United States played an important role in doing so, according to the UK on Monday.
"There is an urgent need ... to restart the Middle East peace process," said British Foreign Secretary William Hague.
The situation has changed, particularly with Israel's plan to build new settlements in East Jerusalem and the results of the UN decision to raise the Palestinian diplomatic status, Hague said.
He called on the United States to re-engage and encourage the advancement of the peace process itself Hague will urge its partners in the EU to do everything to help achieve peace.
Last week, Britain summoned Israel's ambassador to talk about plans for a new settlement, which criticized the European Union as a threat to a peaceful solution.
